Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a nexus letter?
A nexus letter is a medical opinion written by a qualified healthcare provider that may help explain the connection between a veteran's current medical condition and their military service or another service-connected condition.

2. How do I know if I may be a good candidate for a nexus letter?
The first step is to complete our screening questionnaire. We will review the information you provide to help determine whether you may be an appropriate candidate to move forward with a records review.

3. What is included in the records review?
The records review involves reviewing the relevant medical and service-related documentation needed to determine whether there is sufficient information to support moving forward with a medical opinion.

4. Is the records review refundable?
No. The records review fee is non-refundable because time and professional resources are dedicated to reviewing your submitted documentation.

5. Does completing the screening questionnaire guarantee that I will receive a nexus letter?
No. The screening questionnaire is only an initial step to determine whether you may be a candidate for a records review. A nexus letter cannot be guaranteed.

6. Does a records review guarantee a favorable medical opinion or nexus letter?
No. A records review does not guarantee that a favorable medical opinion can be provided. Any medical opinion must be based on the available medical evidence and the independent professional judgment of the qualified provider.

7. Can you guarantee that the VA will approve my disability claim?
No. We cannot guarantee VA disability benefits, a service connection, a specific disability rating, or any particular outcome. Final decisions regarding VA claims are made by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

8. What records or documents will I need to provide?
Depending on your situation, you may be asked to provide relevant medical records, service treatment records, VA records, private treatment records, diagnostic testing, and other documentation related to your claimed condition.

9. How long does the process take?

The turnaround time for a medical nexus letter is 5-7 business days and depends primarily on the complexity of the case as well as the volume of medical records provided.

10. What happens after I submit my screening questionnaire?

Once your questionnaire is submitted, your information will be reviewed to determine whether you may be a good candidate to move forward with the next step. If appropriate, you will receive information about the records review process and any additional documentation needed.
